Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems to showcase multi-award-winning Ultimate at SuperCorrExpo

  • Visitors to this year’s SuperCorrExpo will have the chance to see the multi-award-winning Kongsberg Ultimate in action, when the game-changing cutting system takes center stage at the Florida event.
  • From 9-12 September, Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems (Kongsberg PCS) will be partnering with DigiTech to showcase the innovative new cutting table that is transforming corrugated production.

We’re incredibly excited to be bringing the Ultimate to SuperCorrExpo this year,” said Matt Thackray, VP & General Manager of Kongsberg PCS operations in America. “Following its American debut earlier in 2024, the Kongsberg Ultimate has not only been named Best Wide Format Cutting Solution in the EDP Awards announced at drupa, but also recently received a prestigious PRINTING United Alliance 2024 Pinnacle Product Award.

For many, SuperCorrExpo represents the first chance to see the Ultimate up close,” he said. “We’re looking forward to putting the award-winning cutting system through its paces and to demonstrate how it can help businesses to maximize productivity, supercharging throughput while delivering the very best quality finish.

The groundbreaking table, paired with the Kongsberg Feeder & Stacker and the DigiTech TruFire LTX3 with auto loader, represents an industry first for material handling and flipping. This setup, featuring a fully integrated conveyor system, will be showcased at booth #2301 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. The impressive configuration will demonstrate the ease, speed, and quality delivered through a fully automated production workflow.

With corrugated converters across the US and around the world under increasing pressure to produce better, faster, safer and more efficiently to meet customer demands, the Kongsberg Ultimate represents a quantum leap forward in technology,” added Matt. “With its impressive acceleration rate of up to 2.74G and remarkable cutting speed of 168 meters per minute, it truly addresses the unique challenges faced by corrugated converters involved in continuous high volume multi-batch production.

With the Kongsberg Ultimate, we have developed a solution that has been engineered for precision and built for productivity, and its recent awards success is testament to that,” he said.

The Kongsberg Ultimate’s impressive performance stems from a number of key technical innovations. The new Kongsberg PrecisionDrive™ system, featuring a high-torque motor with a rack and pinion setup, enables unmatched acceleration and cutting speeds. Its traverse, crafted from a single filament of carbon, ensures strength and minimal bending, even under 50kg downforce. Safety is enhanced by the Kongsberg SmartZone™ dual-zone safety system, which monitors the table’s surroundings, slowing it down when the operator is near and pausing it when even closer.

Patric Coldeway, President of DigiTech, said the company was excited to be showcasing the Kongsberg Ultimate alongside its own latest technology. “We are continually looking to address changes in the large format UV printing market, with the overall growth accompanied by increasing print volumes and also shorter turnaround times,” said Patric. “Our TruFire series of flatbed printers features meticulous attention to detail in both design and manufacturing that delivers exceptional printing capabilities, remarkable output, and outstanding quality.

We take great pride in the quality of the American-made flatbed printers that we manufacture and supply to sign shops around the world, which is something we have in common with the team at Kongsberg PCS,” he said. “We are looking forward to working together at SuperCorrExpo and showing how our technologies can help businesses to boost their productivity without compromising quality.
