COSMOPACK 2016: New events and initiatives
Cosmopack, the event dedicated to the entire cosmetics supply chain, from raw materials to formulas and from machinery to packaging, will be cementing its role as the industry’s landmark trade fair in 2016 both through initiatives aimed at professionals in the sector and through top-quality conventions for the international specialists in raw materials, research & development, business development and formulas coming to Bologna.
Cosmopack’s scheduling alongside Nuce – Health World Expo, the international fair for the nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, functional foods & beverages and health ingredients industry, which is taking place in Bologna on 17th and 18th March 2016 at the Fiera’s Palazzo dei Congressi, brings together the entire cosmeceutical and nutraceutical supply chain for the first time.
Now in its fourth edition, The Cosmopack Factory is an established Cosmopack initiative to give visitors a close-up view of cosmetics factories and their methods of research and experimentation, revealing how they work and telling the story of how their manufacturing processes evolved.
Following on from the stories of lipstick, mascara and face powder, The Cream Factory will be created for the 2016 edition. The Cosmopack Optimoist Perfectionist Serum, a serum with a light and silky texture to make skin clear and smooth, will take centre stage.
The project will be produced in partnership with seven leading international companies exhibiting at Cosmopack: Cosmoproject, Axomatic, V2 Engineering, Industrial Box, Certiquality, Gruppo Scandolara and Pusterla 1880.
The Cream Factory complies with ISO 22716, and the CO2 emissions involved in manufacturing the Cream Factory’s product are currently being calculated.
The Cosmopack Wall returns for the third time, celebrating the boldest products, always ahead of the latest trends, which combine technical innovation with beauty. The top firms in the sector, both domestic and international, present their most innovative projects, raw materials and formulas. A jury made up of experts from the sector, journalists, designers and architects will award the prizes for The Cosmopack Wall 2016 – The avant-garde edition. Skincare and make-up products with outstanding formulas and packaging will be rewarded, as well as those with the most innovative technology and design.
Milan’s Istituto Marangoni Design School was involved in creating the prize. First-year students on the Visual Design programme, which includes a course in packaging, were invited to make a trophy symbolising the aesthetic and communicative value of packaging. The winning prize idea was submitted by Yuetong Shi. “Yuetong’s project is a bow with different-coloured fabric and metal strings representing the different characteristics of the various industries,” explains Cristina Morozzi, Director of Istituto Marangoni Design School. “Competing with the Cosmopack staff has been a very instructive experience for the students. At last they have the chance to see a project come to fruition after all their practice during the course. It’s a momentous occasion with a major international trade fair and an international school coming together in the name of creative collaboration”.
The events scheduled for Cosmopack Forum, to be held in Pavilion 15, are not to be missed. The latest fashions, new growing trends in male cosmetics and eco-sustainability, both in formulas and in the packaging of beauty products, and new technologies will be among the subjects covered thanks to the professionalism and expertise of the most influential trend forecasting agencies which will be moderating the conferences: Beautystreams, Centdegres, Nelly Rodi, Groupe Carlin and Peclers Paris. There will also be discussions about innovations in cosmetic packaging design, organised by Istituto Marangoni Design, and market analysis, organised by Mintel, as well as in-depth analyses of new regulations, safety, legal aspects and technical guidelines, with contributions from Cosmetica Italia, Polo Tecnologico della Cosmesi, Istituto Italiano di Imballaggio (Italian Packaging Institute), the University of Pavia, SICC – Società Italiana Di Chimica e Scienze Cosmetologiche (Italian Society of Chemistry and Cosmetic Sciences), CEPRA srl, a Bologna-based consulting firm and chemical analysis laboratory, and the Astolfi law firm.
