Mosca introduces the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6: a side seal machine with variable frame sizes
Mosca has added a versatile new product to its range of fully automated strapping machines. The EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 is the successor to the RO-MS-4 and the first side seal machine with SoniXs technology. The latest model by the Mosca team in Waldbrunn offers ten different frame sizes with the option of a frame with flaps for even more user flexibility. In combination with upstream and downstream conveyor technique, the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 is fully automated and can be easily integrated into existing production lines. It can also be fitted with an efficient double strap dispenser that automatically changes the strap, a key advantage for production processes in terms of machine availability.

With state-of-the-art technology, the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 replaces its predecessor and brings the side seal machine product line into the Industry 4.0 era. Unlike most strapping solutions, the sealing unit is positioned on the side of the machine body for easy and efficient strapping of heavy products or items transported close to the ground. These include furniture and household appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines and dishwashers. In combination with corresponding feeding mechanisms the unit is available in Base and Pro versions to accommodate both entry-level and high-end requirements. The top-of-the-line Standard-6 sealing unit is supplied as standard with SoniXs technology but can also be optionally equipped with heat-welding technology. Features include a range of different frames, an optional frame with flaps in various sizes, ergonomic strap threading, advanced network functionality, and an optional fully automatic double strap dispenser, making the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 a versatile premium product.
Variable frame with flaps and double strap dispenser for maximum efficiency
The controlled frame of the EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 has ten predefined frame sizes ranging from 450×450 mm to 1650×1800 mm capable of processing machine-compatible PP, PET and PLA straps with a width of 5, 6, 8, 9, 10 or 12 mm. A key advantage over the previous model is the option of adding a frame with flaps that can be size-adjusted to meet customer requirements. With the frame with flaps, the side sealing unit affords customers maximum variability with strap widths of 9, 10 or 12 mm. The EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 works with upstream and downstream conveyor technique as a fully-automatic machine or it can be easily integrated into existing lines with conveyor technique. A pivoting control panel makes it easy to change operating sides in any setup. If the strap on the coil is nearly empty, an optional double strap dispenser picks up the strap on a second coil without interruption. The empty coil can then be changed without halting production.
SoniXs technology – clean, secure and efficient strap end sealing
Mosca’s patented SoniXs ultrasonic technology is another innovation in the range of side seal machines. This unique, highly efficient process is ready for use at all times. Ultrasonic technology requires no warm-up phase, which saves time and money. The sealing unit only consumes energy when it is actually needed. Stability at the joints is up to 85% of the tensile strength of the strapping material used.
Core components are standardized with the modular Mosca system. This helps lower production costs and these savings are passed on to Mosca customers – without compromising on quality and efficiency. The standardized Standard-6 strap path can be disassembled without tools and reassembled just as easily in a few steps, simplifying maintenance and cleaning.
Industry 4.0 ready with network functionality
The high-end Pro model also meets the requirements of Industry 4.0. «The EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 is fully network-compatible. We can run diagnoses via online remote maintenance from anywhere. We gladly offer this service because it is uncomplicated and convenient for our customers,» Zwieb explains. The machine’s status can also be displayed in just a few clicks using a remote monitoring interface. Software updates can be accessed via a network connection in the same way. EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 goes beyond online functionality. The versatile strapping editor enables a wide variety of settings from package to package and allows operators to save different recipes as machine settings. Data including strap patterns, transport speed, package handling and strap tension can be stored in the machine as recipes. These factors can be manually or automatically assigned to the appropriate package, for example via network signal, making product handling even more efficient.
